Dialogue 2024

VIU Interior Design Student Showcase

Celebrate with us the work of students from all four years!

Dialogue 2024

This year showcase theme is:
Growth and Diversity

Years 1, 2, & 3

First Years

First-year students start the program by learning the elements and principles of design and focusing on the residential environment with most work hand-drawn.

Second Years

By the second year, students are introduced to commercial design that may include retail, restaurant, and office spaces.

Third Years

In the third year, students are challenged by designing larger commercial spaces such as hotels and community centres.

Graduates

In their last year, students focus on developing a design for a large commercial space of their choice. These projects showcase their talents and interests. Visit their pages and be very amazed by their projects and 3D Experience videos.

Growth & Diversity

Dialogues is the name of the Year-End Student Showcase (YESS), a student-led event that exhibits the work of all students from the VIU Interior Design program. This event allows students to share their work and accomplishments and connect with companies and professionals in the design community. This year’s theme is Growth & Diversity.

GUEST SPEAKERS

The event featured two great speakers who shared inspiring messages with students and attendees – Dr. Claire Grogan (Dean of Arts and Humanity) and Connie Watts (Interior Designer and Artist).

“Connie Watts is a mixed media artist, designer and business owner. She is of Nuu-chah-nulth, Gitxsan and Kwakwaka’wakw ancestry and lives in both Port Alberni and West Vancouver. Watts graduated from the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Intermedia, and has her Bachelor of Interior Design from the University of Manitoba.”

Dialogue 2024 SPONSORS

The annual showcase is an important event for the students of the Interior Design program and would not be possible each year without the generous donations and support from local sponsors and the support of the interior design community.
